Application of dimethyl carbonate in optical resins

Optical resin generally refers to synthetic resin in order to achieve some optical properties, commonly used in glasses, optical instruments, etc. The resin materials used to manufacture eyeglasses are optical resins made of high molecular organic compounds by molding or injection molding.

The commonly used optical resin materials are divided into three types:

1. the index of refraction of the common CR-39 lenses is 1.5, and CR-39 resin lenses are mainly used in all kinds of corrected vision lenses, sunglasses lenses, and cataract postoperative lenses, etc.;

2. PMMA lenses are mainly used in sunglasses and contact lenses.

3. the PC space is mainly used for industrial use goggles pills, polarized lenses, and sports lenses.

Propylene Glycol Carbonates (Dially Glycol Carbonates, abbreviated as ADC) is the most widely used material for the production of common resin lenses. Chemists at PPG Columbia in 1942 discovered it is the 39th material in a series of polymers developed by the United States Air Force and is therefore known as CR-39.

Allyl diglycol carbonate (ADC) is a polymeric monomer prepared by the reaction of diethylene glycol (DEG), allyl alcohol (AAH) and dimethyl carbonate (DMC) with catalyst. Its polymer PADC has good light transmittance, light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance, excellent optical, thermal and mechanical properties, chemical corrosion resistance, and shielding r rays, which can be used as optical materials. It was widely used in Japan, Europe and the United States after it was introduced abroad in the 1940s. Although the research on the production of allyl diglycol carbonate (ADC) started late in China, in recent years, with the improvement of domestic technology, ADC production process is gradually matured. China's ADC export is in tight demand, mainly exported to Southeast Asian countries.

With the development and application of propylene glycol carbonate (ADC) at home and abroad, the development of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) industry as its raw material will be driven.
