It is a perfect methylating agent, carbonylating agent, and methoxylating agent with active chemical properties. It is classified into a non-toxic product in Europe in 1992 and VOC excluded products by EPA in 2009. As an environmental chemical product, it can be widely used in producing polycarbonate, pharmaceutical and pesticide, and can be used in paints, coating and adhesives as the solvent substituting some toxic solvent. The high-purity DMC can be used into producing lithium battery electrolyte.
